Job Title: Manager, Total Rewards

Location: Austin, TX

Position Purpose


As the Manager, Total Rewards you will design, implement, and manage the company’s Total Rewards strategy and programs, to include compensation, benefits, wellness, and payroll. In this role, you will manage competitive, equitable, and scalable Total Rewards strategies and programs that enable us to attract, grow and reward talented KW team members across the organization. This position will work in the Austin TX corporate office at least (3) days a week.

The Impact You'll Make

● Manages the design, planning and execution of KW’s Total Rewards strategies and programs, to include compensation, benefits, wellness, and payroll, to enable KW to attract, recognize, and retain great talent

● Manages compensation programs, including salary structures, pay grades, pay ranges, market data benchmarking and analyses, job descriptions and evaluations, FLSA classifications, internal pay equity analyses, base pay adjustments, variable compensation, bonus and incentive programs, salary budget review, and compensation survey participation

● With a commitment to performance excellence and continuous improvements, regularly assesses the effectiveness of total rewards and compensation practices, to include guidelines, documentation, communication, change management, and data integrity

● Manages benefits programs, which include health benefits, life and AD&D insurance, disability insurance, FSA, HSA, EAP, 401(k), time off programs, and all mandated/company leave programs. Also evaluates existing company benefits in partnership with our broker to propose recommendations for enhancements and/or modifications to our benefit programs

● Oversees and manages the payroll program, ensuring compliance with laws and tax obligations, including managing the payroll team and maintaining accurate payroll records

● Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws pertaining to employee benefit plans, retirement plans, wellness programs, and leave of absence programs

● Oversees the preparation and review of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, to include Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies

● Develops recommendations to leadership to ensure compliance and minimize risk based on changes to federal, state and local laws pertaining to benefits and leave of absence

● Other duties as required

The Experience You'll Need

● Bachelor's Degree in Business, HR, or related field experience

● Five or more years of experience managing and administering Total Rewards programs, including compensation, benefits, and payroll programs

● Three or more years of experience successfully managing a team

● Three or more years of multi-state payroll experience; preferred candidates will have three or more years of experience utilizing ADP/ADP Vantage

● Demonstrated knowledge of compensation principles and practices

● Demonstrated knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, PPACA, FMLA, ADA, FEHA, IRC, Worker’s

Compensation, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations and leave laws

● Strong project management and analytical skills

● Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

● Proven experience in effectively building relationships, diplomatically communicating complex information, and working collaboratively

● Exceptional solution and service-oriented skills, with an emphasis on problem solving

● Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a high degree of adaptability

● Proven experience building and implementing best practices to improve operational efficiency 


The annual base salary for this role will be based on consideration of a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and respective state’s salary threshold for exempt employees.

About this Position

At Texas Mutual, we're creating a stronger, safer Texas. As a Claims Adjuster, you will contribute to our mission by conducting claim investigations and administering benefits to injured workers and their beneficiaries observing the Texas Workers' Compensation Act, rules of the Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC), and corporate procedures. Your reserving authority will be consistent with your experience and you will report to the Claims Supervisor. Responsibilities & Qualifications

In this role, you will:

  • Administer workers' compensation benefits to injured workers.

  • Conduct investigations for coverage and compensability, establish appropriate reserves, and make appropriate recommendations on claims.

  • Manage established claims on an ongoing basis.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and proper handling of claims.

  • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in claim file management and customer service.


It's required that you have:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, or experience.

  • A current Texas workers' compensation or all lines adjuster license.

  • At least two years of experience handling Texas workers' compensation claims.
