  • Cara McCarty Abbott, Founder & CEO at Betterleave Bereavement 
    Founder & CEO at Betterleave Bereavement, the leading bereavement benefits provider built to support employees as they navigate the complex bereavement landscape. Prior to Betterleave, she co-founded Code Pilot, one of the fastest growing training & recruitment platforms for developers. Cara loves to partner with founders and leaders to support complex organizational and high-growth people initiatives for successful outcomes -- including WorldFirst, Acquisition and RetailMeNot, IPO.   • Michelle Irwin, Lead Consultants, Mercer
    Before joining Mercer, Michelle worked as a benefits leader and an HR Business Partner for Marathon Oil in Houston for 12 years, where she led benefits administration, systems and vendor implementations and strategy.  Michelle has a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and International Studies and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management from Texas A&M University. She is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR).  Michelle Irwin is a Lead Benefits Consultant in the Mercer Health and Benefits practice in Austin. She has been with Mercer since August 2021.

  • Jason Herrington, Head of People & HR, Frogslayer
    Jason is a seasoned HR leader and consultant with a decade of consulting experience that spans multiple industries and company profiles. From early-stage to publicly traded companies, he has advised hundreds of businesses through various stages of the company lifecycle. Jason is proficient at designing sustainable yet scalable HR processes, leveraging the latest and greatest HR tooling, and is especially passionate about helping companies maintain a unique company culture through sound talent management and organizational development philosophies and strategies. He holds a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Abilene Christian University, has multiple HR Professional certifications, and is a licensed benefit agent by the Texas Department of Insurance. Jason enjoys reading, music, early-morning workouts, and the many adventures he finds with his wife and three kids.
