Wendy C. Carmichael

Wendy Carmichael joined USI Southwest’s Houston office in January 2006 as USI's in-house ERISA Counsel, focused on helping USI's department and clients stay compliant with requirements of various benefits laws.  Before joining USI, Wendy was in private practice at Courtney & Associates, P.C. She has practiced exclusively in employee benefits law since 1999. Wendy is a member of the State Bar of Texas and Houston Bar Association.

In her current position, Wendy monitors changes in benefits laws (health care reform, HIPAA, COBRA, etc.), provides assistance to clients with respect to specific legal questions (discrimination, privacy, etc.), conducts seminars to distribute legislative requirements, and writes weekly updates covering new developments and general issues regarding health and welfare plans.

Wendy earned her BA from Vanderbilt University and her JD from the University of Oregon School of Law.
