CTCBA is a 503(c) educational nonprofit association headquartered in Austin, Texas.


Purpose

CTCBA supports and promotes WorldatWork and maintains membership in the WorldatWork Local Network. In addition, CTCBA supports efforts of other organizations with compatible goals.


CTCBA is committed to promoting the professional practice of total rewards management in order to attract, retain and motivate employees. Total rewards are used to describe the complete rewards and recognition package that an employee receives. It includes employee pay, benefits and work experience.

President:The President gives direction and provides vision to the organization by working with the Board of Directors to establish and carry out annual initiatives that support the CTCBA mission. Ed Coates, CCPEd Coates has been with Texas Mutual Insurance Company since 1999 and is currently the Sr. Manager of Benefits and Compensation. Prior to this, he worked for a private benefits consulting firm for 5 years. Ed is responsible for benefits, compensation, and wellness programs covering 800 employees. Ed served as VP of Surveys prior to serving as President of CTCBA. Ed also led CTCBA’s efforts in 2009 to establish academic scholarships for students pursuing a career in Human Resources at St. Edwards University and the University of Texas. Ed has a BS in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is also a competitive Masters swimmer with a team at the University of Texas.
President - Elect:The President Elect works with the President and the Immediate Past President to manage the activities of CTCBA. He/she makes a three-year commitment to serve on the Board of Directors as follows: (1) President Elect, (2) President, and (3) Immediate Past President. Luz CadenaLuz Cadena has been a CTCBA member for 12 years. Luz is a Compensation Consultant with the Texas Association of School Boards and has over 13 years experience in compensation. Luz received her B.A. in Business Management from Concordia University. Luz previously served as the VP of Membership for CTCBA.
Immediate Past President:The Immediate Past President lends leadership continuity to the Board and serves in the absence or at the request of the President of CTCBA. Jill Rutherford, CCPJill served as CTCBA’s President in 2009. Jill Rutherford has over 13 years of experience in both employee pay and executive compensation, including incentive plan design, job design and analysis, competitive market assessments, pay structure design, compensation administration and legal compliance. Jill is a member of the compensation team at the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). Jill also has compensation experience with Dell, Towers Perrin and Whole Foods Market. Jill earned a Masters of Business Administration from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Her undergraduate work was completed at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Jill is a Certified Compensation Professional.
Vice President - Communications:The VP Communications creates and maintains communication and marketing pieces related to CTCBA and its events. Susan Sanders, CCPSusan Sanders served as CTCBA’s President in 2008 and has been involved with the organization for the last six years, both as a member and in leadership roles on the Board. For the last two years, she has been an advisor and volunteer for the Texas Total Rewards Conference. Susan is the Compensation Manager at Temple-Inland where she provides support for company-wide total compensation programs. With over 20 years of compensation and benefits experience at Fortune 500 companies, Susan has been integral in designing and implementing a variety of total rewards programs. Susan graduated cum laude from Dallas Baptist University with a B.A. in Business Administration and is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) In addition to volunteering her time for human resources endeavors, Susan enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Vice President - External Affairs:The VP External Affairs represents CTCBA’s interests in the local and state community by participating in events that support the total rewards profession. Jenny VoigtJenny Voigt has been involved with CTCBA for numerous years, having served as the VP- Surveys, and President in 2007. In 2009, she served as the Chair for the Texas Total Rewards Conference Programs Committee. Jenny has 18 years of broad human resources experience in businesses ranging from high tech to financial services. Currently, she is a Sr. Human Resources Generalist with Amplify Federal Credit Union. Jenny graduated cum laude from Southwestern University in Georgetown with a B.A. in Communication, and is a certified Professional in Human Resources. She is currently working on obtaining the Certified Compensation Professional designation.
Vice President - Finance:The VP Finance oversees financial activities for CTCBA in accordance with general accounting principles and sound banking practices. Steve Maitlen, CCP, CEBSSteve Maitlen has been a CTCBA member for 15 years. He is the HRIS Administrator for the Lower Colorado River Authority and has over 20 years of compensation and benefits experience. He has earned both his Certified Compensation Professional and Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designations. Steve received his BBA degree from Southern Methodist University and his MBA from the University of Florida.
Vice President - Membership:The VP Membership develops, plans and implements new member recruitment and orientation programs to attract members representing the diverse Austin-Central Texas area industries. Vicki WestVicki West has been a CTCBA member for 8 years. She is the Compensation Manager at Austin Community College and has over 20 years experience in Human Resources management, half of which is specialized in Compensation. Vicki attended St. Edward's University and in 2004 received a Master's of Science degree in Organizational Leadership and Ethics.
Vice President - Programs:The VP Programs coordinates decisions regarding meeting programs, workshops and educational courses offered by CTCBA. Kim WalterKim Walter is currently a Compensation & Benefits Manager at Solarwinds. Kim's experience with compensation and benefits began with an HR Generalist role at Baan Corporation, an ERP company. From there, she went on to compensation management roles at 2 high-tech companies, DirecTV Broadband and Borland Software, before becoming a consultant in 2009. Kim is originally from California and relocated to Austin in 2007. She has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Vice President - Surveys:The VP Surveys coordinates the planning and implementation of compensation and benefits surveys. Lara BurkyLara Burky has been in Human Resources at Texas Mutual Insurance Company since 1996, with broad experience in HR services including training, organizational development, benefits and disability management, and compensation. Currently, she is focusing on compensation as a Benefits and Compensation Consultant. Lara graduated with university honors from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh with a joint B.S. in Industrial Management and Public Policy and Management.
